A renaissance of astrology

© by: Willie Krut

The scientific revolution that began in the seventeenth century has caused some illusion of many Western intellectuals, that in the near future, all the secrets of the world will be discovered by the power of the main and experimental science. The global recognition of the heliocentric theory Kopernik (Nicolas Copernicus (1473-1543) founder of modern astronomy), then the discovery of new planets has been seized as a refutation of astrology, which traditionally used geocentric model of Ptolemy (Ptolemy (367? -283? Bc), astronomer and general Alexander the Great army who succeeded him as a rule of Egypt (323-285 bc)) and only five planets visible.

As a result, by the end of the seventeenth century in continental Europe the practice of astrology brought to naught. In England, some astrological traditions continued and was not arrested in England because the strong tradition of science grass few astrological knowledge.

During that time the company began at the request of astrologers scientific evidence of their discoveries astrology, no matter how it seems paradoxical, because astrology is one of the oldest sciences. At this point the definition of science is extremely narrow. Anything that could not be proven "by a stick and a rope," is published unscientific. Astrologers, which aspires to social acceptance, began to offer (and continue to offer until now), various explanations rationalist of astrology. However, depending on the size of knowledge based on the old philosophical and religious concepts, it is not so harmoniously.

At that time many changes occurred not only scientists but also enormous changes in society itself. The role of astrologers in society has changed. During these years, many astrologers were both doctors, translators, and mathematicians. They were highly educated. Their customers are aristocrats and priests, who ruled the world at that time. For example, one of the main representatives of astrology medieval Guido Bonatti was noble in itself and it provides that priests rank they can reach - bishop, cardinal or even the Pope. He used to give advice to members of the royal family and aristocrats about political, military and State affairs.

Now, the authority sent to businessmen more and more and more and more workers' education has given rise to the popular astrology - which now fills the last pages of many newspapers and magazines. The education system has changed the direction, now commodities have been concentrated on engineers, managers, bankers, and knowledge of languages and philosophies are becoming less valuable and important. And when, in the second half of the nineteenth century in Europe had begun the next revival of astrology, only a few are able to use the sources, and most documents are still not translated from Greek, Arabic and latin.

Renewed interest in astrology in the nineteenth century was mainly caused by the skepticism of the current theory that all the secrets of mankind are possible to explain by means of reason. An understanding of science began to expand gradually and as a result at the end of the twentieth century, nobody is surprised by these sciences such as psychology - whose subjects and methods are often very far from a model rationalist.

Inspired by the success of social psychology, many astrologers of the twentieth century began to teach astrology by combining it with psychology. As a result psychological astrology was born. The psychological astrology targeted, unlike classical astrology, not objective reality but on the emotional world of the person.

At the same time, by the end of the twentieth century, it has increased the interest astrological classical works, these methods and guidelines that have been hidden. That is why a large number of astrological documents were translated from Greek and latin languages.
